Fodor's Expert Review Hotel Robledal

400 meters (1,312 feet) west of Iglesia El Roble, Alajuela, Alajuela, Costa Rica

A robledal is an oak grove in Spanish, and ample oak trees shade the grounds of this quiet oasis not far from the airport. Although constructed only in the early 2000s, the main building resembles an old coffee-plantation house, and accommodates the reception area, típico restaurant, and conference room. The 15 rooms are scattered in several units around the property and most are bright and airy. You’ll find amenities here such as big-screen TVs, air-conditioning, and a pool—none of which are common in Central Valley lodgings. A free airport shuttle operates from 5 am to 11 pm.
