Fodor's Expert Review Radisson Fort George Hotel and Marina

2 Marine Parade, Belize City, Belize District, Belize Fodor's Choice

The country's first international-style large hotel dominates the historic Fort George district with panoramic views of the sea from its more expensive rooms. The best rooms are in the modern glass-fronted six-story Club Tower, a later addition, with sea views. "Business Class" rooms have upgraded amenities such as room refrigerators. Rooms in the Villa Wing across the street, formerly a Holiday Inn, overlook the river and one of the hotel's two pools. The Colonial Wing rooms are convenient but need some upgrading. Dining options include the fairly expensive St. George's Dining Room, the poolside Stonegrill Restaurant, or the expanded coffee shop, Le Petit Café, where the baked goods are reasonably priced. The Baymen's Tavern is one of the city's upscale watering holes and attracts a large local following on weekends.
