Eski Datça and Reşadiye

Turkish satirical poet and polemical left-wing social critic Can Yücel retired to a modest old stone house in Eski Datça, setting an artistic tone for this pretty backwater spot and for nearby Reshadiye. The formerly Greek-populated village is one of the few in Turkey that has survived intact. Fine restoration efforts have produced several lovely small houses, which vacationers can rent. Nobody hurries through the stone-paved alleys, which are a perfect spot to browse boutiques for local handicrafts, from jewelry to fabrics to home decor.
