Fodor's Expert Review Konak Konya Mutfağı
Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.
A mansion down the road from Mevlâna's tomb is a lovely setting in which to enjoy local specialties. The baby okra soup, with its flavorful, meaty broth, is said to be among the best in Konya, and the meat dishes—mainly lamb-based kebabs and casseroles—are excellent. Be sure to save room for the hoşmerim, a rich dessert made of panfried clotted cream, flour, milk, and sugar, sprinkled with ground pistachio nuts and served warm. In winter, guests eat in small, simple dining rooms; in summer, seating is in the pleasant, leafy garden. Service is on the formal side, and the menu doesn't list prices.
