Fodor's Expert Review Meierei
On a winding, private forest road partway around the lake, this 17th-century Landgasthof (country inn) is sought out for its light meals and delicious combinations using fresh, local ingredients, along with tempting house-made baked goods for dessert. It was formerly both a farm and a dairy, and its sun terrace attracts day hikers, cross-country skiers, and horseback riders. Only hotel guests may drive in and park on-site, so if you're not staying there, you'll have a 20- to 30-minute walk along the lake promenade, or you can arrange a complimentary pickup from the train station. If you don't want a full meal, light snacks and drinks are also on hand—the perfect accompaniment to the stunning lakeside views.
