With old-fashioned style and inviting public spaces, this charming grande dame in the neighboring village of Sils ticks all the boxes, from elegant restaurants to a surprisingly modern and architecturally stunning spa. Guest rooms are in three styles: classic, modern, and nostalgic, with restored 1908 furnishings; many have views of Lake Silvaplana. A lovely open lounge area with mountain views makes an appealing space for a coffee or cocktail. Although it doesn't quite fit with the rest of the hotel's decor, the uber-contemporary subterranean spa area is a beaut—with two heated pools, saunas, and steam rooms—and guaranteed to relax.
