Planning Your Time

You can manage to see a satisfying amount of Stockholm in a day, though it would be tough to get too much of this place. Start near Stadhuset (City Hall) for a morning trip up to the top of its 348-foot tower. Make your way to Kulturehuset for some art, then relax before heading to Gamla Stan and the Kungliga Slottet. To save on dinner, try picnicking in the beautiful Kungsträdgården, just across Strömsbron.

If you can linger here for a few days, take a day trip into the archipelago. Whether it be a landlubber's stroll along the docks at Strandvägen, venturing onto a commuter ferry for a bit of island hopping, or sea kayaking as far as your arms will let you, get thee to the water.
