Fodor's Expert Review Radisson Blu Strand Hotel
Nybrokajen 9, Stockholm, 103 27, Sweden
An art nouveau monolith, built in 1912 for the Stockholm Olympics, has been completely and tastefully modernized. It's on the water across from the Royal Dramatic Theater, only a short walk from the Old Town and the museums on Skeppsholmen. No two rooms are alike, but all are furnished with simple and elegant furniture, offset by white woodwork and hues of moss green and cocoa brown. The Herr Julius c/o Strand Hotel restaurant feels sharp and urban, with a cool color scheme of stone, earth-brown, and natural greens.
PROS
- central location
- elegant rooms
- energized public areas
CONS
- has a slight chain-hotel feel
- beds too soft for some
