Fodor's Expert Review Sant Cristòfol

Beget Religious Building/Site/Shrine

The 12th-century Romanesque church of Sant Cristòfol (St. Christopher) has a diminutive bell tower and a rare 6-foot Majestat—a polychrome wood carving of the risen and reigning Christ in head-to-foot robes, dating to the 12th century. The church is usually closed, but ask in the bar-restaurant behind the church, or in El Forn de Beget, and someone will direct you to the keeper of the key. A €1 charge is collected for church upkeep.
