This rising star on the Marbella dining scene might be a new arrival, but it looks set to pick up the baton from Dani García whose Michelin-starred restaurant closed in fall 2019. At just 25, chef Fernando Alcalá won the Best New Chef award at Madrid Fusion in 2019, and his dishes based on seasonal produce certainly rank among the finest in town. Simplicity is his key to success with dishes consisting solely of a main and secondary ingredient plus sauce. The ten menu choices vary depending on what’s in the market but might include red band bream with pak choi and curried pumpkin puree or rib eye and lettuce with anchovies. Dishes come as full or half portions so make ideal sharing plates, or try the tasting menu for a good-value €50. If you can, leave room for Alcalá’s justly famous cheesecake.
