Fodor's Expert Review Monopol

Calle Quintana 15, Puerto de la Cruz, Canary Islands, 38400, Spain

Monopol has had more than a century to perfect its brand of hospitality: built as a private home in 1742, opened as a hotel in 1888, and run by the same family for more than 70 years, this three-star has neatly furnished rooms with wooden balconies set around a verdant courtyard. Most rooms, and the pleasant pool deck, overlook the sea; some are above one of the town's main squares, Plaza de la Iglesia.
