Fodor's Expert Review Euskal Museoa Bilbao Museo Vasco

This be-all-end-all museum on Basque ethnography and Bilbao's cultural history occupies a 16th-century convent. Highlights include El Mikeldi, a pre-Christian, Iron Age stone animal representation that may be 4,000 years old; the room dedicated to Basque shepherds and the pastoral way of life; and the exhibit Mar de los Vascos (Sea of the Basques) about whaling, fishing, and maritime activities.
