Fodor's Expert Review Baserri Maitea

In the village of Forua, about 11 km (7 miles) south of Mundaka and 1 km (½ mile) northwest of Gernika, this restaurant is in a stunning 18th-century caserío (Basque farmhouse). Strings of red peppers and garlic hang from wooden beams in the cathedral-like interior, and the kitchen is famous for its hearty yet refined fish and meat dishes prepared over a wood-fired grill.
