Hondarribia

Hondarribia (Fuenterrabía in Spanish) is the last fishing port before the French border and a wonderful day trip from San Sebastián. Lined with fishermen's homes and small fishing boats, the harbor is a scenic if slightly touristy spot. If you have a taste for history, follow signs up the hill to the medieval bastion and onetime castle of Carlos V, now a parador, and keep your eye out for coats of arms emblazoned on the corners of old buildings (as opposed to above entryways)—an Hondarribia peculiarity.
