Hotel H10 Casanova

Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes 559, Barcelona, Catalonia 08011, Spain

The building this hotel is in dates back to the 18th Century, but inside it’s all modern all the way. The refurbished space resides in a university area that is teeming with students, small bars, and restaurants of all kinds. Inside, neon green lights and space-age furniture welcomes guests to a hotel that is chock-full of drinking options that lend itself to weekend parties and there are an array of in-house amenities as well.

room

Spacious rooms mostly face the Gran Vía below with ornate balconies perfect for people-watching. Rooms typically have parquet floors, contemporary furnishings, and take-home slippers. Nespresso machines can be found in the higher category rooms.

bathroom

Most of the restrooms consist of shower/tub combinations and have black granite floors and porcelain sinks.

lobby

The expansive lobby is aglow with green neon light against low white leather couches and tables with black marble floors. At the reception desk, you’ll always find free apples, cava, and sweets. Just don’t get greedy.

pool

There’s a small plunge pool on the roof that’s only open in the summer – though “pool” is a generous term. There are white loungers for sunbathing and a rooftop bar as well.

spa

Despacio Spa Centre is an elegant treatment area with three separate rooms, stone floors, and a very Zen vibe. Inside the rooms you can get a variety of treatments like a water massage, hot stones, facials, reflexology and more.

gym

The small rooftop gym has wood-slatted floors and a few Technogym cardio machines. There are no free weights, but working out with a view of the city is pretty nice.

The hotel also rents bicycles for 15 Euros/day.

dining

There are a couple of options in the hotel for food. The Ona Lounge in the lobby specializes in tapas. There’s a breakfast area serving a healthy buffet each morning, but is also open for lunch and dinner serving Mediterranean options. And the Terraza Sky Bar on the roof also has sandwiches, pizza, and other snacks.

drinking

Ona Lounge in the lobby is known for their gin & tonics and has a DJ on Fridays and Saturdays until 3 am. The Sky Bar on the roof is also a scene – though mainly in the summer – as DJs spin on Friday nights when the weather is warm.

LOCATION

Getting Around

H10 Casanova is in an immensely walkable area nearby a university so there are dozens of cheap eats, sips, and shops down the street. The hotel is also equidistant to two different metro stops that takes you to varying parts of the city very quickly.

Restaurants

If you love tapas, you should check out La Flauta (3-minute walk). If you’re a vegan, vegetarian, or just feel like eating healthy food that’s truly fantastic, hit up Flax & Kale (4-minute walk) just around the corner.

Bars

Fans of beer might want to check out Barcelona Beer Company (2-minute walk) with a great selection of suds. For cocktail lovers, head over to the ironically named Bar Betty Ford (6-minute walk) with a young, fun crowd.

WHY WE LIKE IT

This H10 hotel is a sleek and modern property that peppers its guests with a variety of nightlife options that young Casanova’s will greatly appreciate. Rooms are spacious, the spa is surprisingly nice, and the rooftop deck/pool/bar is always a fun place to be. The neighborhood is filled with university students which means there are a ton of cheap food and drink options right nearby. With two metro stops in the area, it’s also easy to get to every part of the city.
