Hotel Cram

Carrer Aribau 54, Barcelona, Catalonia 08011, Spain

A member of the Small Luxury Hotels group, Hotel Cram is a super chic boutique molded out of a building that still splays its more than 100-year façade. Inside, clean white walls and minimalist design greet guests in this newly renovated abode. A lux vibe permeates the entire hotel and can especially be found inside their very own one Michelin-starred restaurant Angle, by renowned chef Jordi Cruz.

Hardwood floors, white walls, and minimal light wood furnishings are pretty standard in all rooms. You’ll also find Handy devices – your own personal Wi-Fi hotspot anywhere in the city – as well as take-home slippers, comfy robes, and ample outlets for all your charging needs.

Suites have extra benefits like free Nespresso machines, large terraces, and even a giant Jacuzzi.

There’s a mix of shower/tub combos or solo showers throughout as well as Mosaique products and very large and generous bathroom amenity kits. Suites are decked out with Bulgari goodies.

The minimal thing extends to the lobby where there’s a range of white/beige couches, a small reading nook, light wood floors, and bird’s nest chandeliers.

Open until 10 pm and from May to October, the rooftop pool (tiny) offers amazing views of Tibidabo – a stunning church on top of a mountain that hovers over the city.

This is where the hotel really shines. Angle is the hotel’s one-star Michelin restaurant anchored by world-famous chef Jordi Cruz. The menu is a wholly unique take on traditional Catalan dishes with special tasting menus featuring skewered sardines, Iberian pork, and pigeon liver pâte.

If you really want a special treat, ask the hotel about their Master Class dining experience. Here you and a group of friends can learn how to make some of the signature dishes on the menu.

The rooftop terrace features Ànemos Terrace Bar where you can indulge in delightful cocktails from noon-midnight and snack on some Jordi Cruz inspired tapas and other small bites.

Getting Around

The hotel is in the Eixample neighborhood, known for chic bars and restaurants, lots of great shopping and easy access to the rest of the city. There are literally three metro stops all within minutes of the hotel and walking to the main shopping streets like Las Ramblas is a breeze.

If you’ve had your fill of Michelin-dining at the hotel, you can take a break and snag some amazing tapas at La Flauta (2-minute walk) just down the street. If you’re a breakfast fan, don’t miss out on Brunch & Cake (2-minute walk) which serves fresh pastries and other goodies and is right around the corner.

The hotel resides in a gay part of town which lends itself to a number of outstanding bars of that predilection. Check out Sky Bar (2-minute walk) at Hotel Axel or AmoVino (2-minute walk) for cocktails and wine. If you’re looking for a straighter scene, you should try out Tandem Cocktail Bar (2-minute walk) for classic sips.

Staying in a boutique hotel like this offers next-level service that can be personalized easily as there are only 67 rooms. The design is minimal and stylish without trying too hard, the rooftop is stunning, and the Michelin-starred restaurant is one-of-a-kind. If you need things like a gym and a spa, you won’t find that here, but because of the central locale of the hotel, it’ll be easy to walk off those elaborate tasting menu meals.
