Fodor's Expert Review Lake of Menteith Hotel

Off A81, Aberfoyle, Stirling, FK8 3RA, Scotland Fodor's Choice

At this beautifully located hotel overlooking the Lake of Menteith, muted colors and simple but elegant rooms create a restful atmosphere, enhanced, perhaps, by the silent hills that ring the hotel and the tranquil lake. The restaurant is so close to the lake that it feels as if you could reach out and touch the water; and from the open tables outside the bar area you probably can. Lunch and dinner menus feature beautifully prepared locally sourced food. Fishing and hunting trips can be arranged. This is a year-round hotel in the tiny hamlet of Port of Menteith; in winter, there are warm fires in the often-busy bar, which serves superior bar fare.
