Fodor's Review

You can observe wintering wildfowl, including various species of geese, ducks, swans, and raptors, on the wetlands surrounding atmospheric Caerlaverock Castle. In summer, ospreys patrol the waters of this wild and beautiful place, the northernmost outpost of the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust. The triops, the tadpole shrimp that is one of the oldest known species, lives in the aquarium here. Free guided walks are available in the afternoons throughout the year.
