Fodor's Review

A wall of windows allows you to contemplate swans and ducks as they float serenely across Gunknowe Loch in the village of Tweedbank. This light and airy place has views of the lake from nearly every table, and if the weather allows, you can dine on the terrace. The elegant but understated food, well presented and served in generous portions, includes familiar dishes like steak-and-ale pie and oat-and-mustard-crusted loin of venison cooked pink and melt-in-your-mouth tender. The restaurant is named after the creator of Tintin, the beloved cartoon character whose statue oversees the drinkers in the comfortable bar area.
