Fodor's Review

Close to Glasgow University, this popular hangout attracts a more mature student crowd. It's an airy spot with high ceilings, leather sofas, and wood floors, and the specialty is good, eclectic food at reasonable prices. Breakfast is your best bet, with thick-sliced French toast, or eggs served on an English muffin with spinach and smoked salmon. Tapas-style plates are an option at lunch: try roasted eggplant and wild-garlic hummus with whole grain flat bread. Among the main dishes, the mussels with Vietnamese sweet-and-sour broth stand out. The evening menu includes black- and-white sesame salmon and garlic masala fish. It is a relaxed, unhurried place, whose casual air belies its excellent cooking.
