Fodor's Review

Despite its popularity and having doubled in size, the café-bar at Stravaigin has maintained the highest quality of cooking for many years. The dishes are adventurous and creative, often combining Oriental and local flavors and unusual marriages of ingredients, like the mussels in a Keralan coconut, tamarind, and curry leaf sauce, or ginger and soy hake fillet. Yet its haggis and neeps (turnips), the national dish, is famed. A wide variety of wines is available, including some uncommon ones. The downstairs restaurant serves the same menu, but the environment is quieter, and a little more sedate, though you can still hear the constant buzz of conversation above you.
