Slightly out of town but worth every penny of the taxi fare, this restaurant's well-known chef woos diners with an impeccable and varied menu of beautifully presented, French-influenced dishes. Poached turbot in red wine or roast grouse served with sauce Albert typify the set menus (£75); but for the full experience, go for one of the tasting menus (only a tasty smidgen more expensive at £80). On weekdays, the three-course lunch is £28.50. Reservations are essential on Friday and Saturday nights.
