Fodor's Review

The Victoria Street branch of this long-standing chain of neighborhood bistros is a reliable choice for contemporary Scottish fare, with lots of fresh local produce. Alongside the daily specials (including soup) and quality Scottish steaks and salmon creations, there are some nicely inventive vegetarian options (spaghetti with asparagus, wild mushrooms, and roast garlic, for example). Service is friendly, and the decor includes dark-wood furnishings and warm colors—it's understated and informal. The wine list is decent, if somewhat limited, and desserts include a few well-aimed curve balls such as a torte of warm chocolate and beetroot . For value, try the fixed-price lunch (£11 for two courses). There's a grander New Town branch at 29 Waterloo Place.
