Fodor's Expert Review The Victorian Town House
14A Eglinton Terr., Edinburgh, EH12 5DD, Scotland
Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.
This handsome B&B, situated in a quiet, leafy crescent but within walking distance of Princes Street, offers bright and spacious rooms with a quirky mix of Edwardian and modern furnishings. The 19th-century building once belonged to a cousin of Robert Louis Stevenson, and the public spaces retain original features, including beautiful fireplaces and ornate cornices; there's also a crystal decanter, with just enough whisky to send you off to sleep.
PROS
- serene surroundings
- super friendly owner
- beautiful Water of Leith at your doorstep
CONS
- no parking nearby
- lacking some modern touches like smart TVs
