Air Travel

Porto's Aeroporto Francisco Sá Carneiro, 13 km (8 miles) north of the city, is the gateway to northern Portugal. TAP Portugal runs direct regular flights from Newark, New Jersey, and from Boston, Massachusetts, to Lisbon. There is also direct service from many European cities. The airport is served by the metro system (a 30-minute trip downtown, €1.85). Taxis and Ubers are also available outside the terminal; the metered fare into town should run €20–€30 with baggage surcharge. Outside the city limits, tariffs are based on kilometers traveled.

Weekday flights from Lisbon to Bragança via Vila Real run twice a day in both directions by Aero Vip, in twin-engine turboprop planes for 18 or 36 passengers.
