Fodor's Expert Review Lá Em Casa
This low-key but attractive restaurant, with its slate walls and fireplace, is midway between the castle and the cathedral. As you might expect this far inland, seafood dishes are considerably more expensive than the excellent regional meat dishes, which include veal and lamb. They also have an unusual recipe for arroz de pato (baked duck rice) which features beer. For a snack or starter, there are excellent ham and cheese platters, grilled chouriço and alheira (cured garlic sausage) and a wine list whose quality matches that of the food. Chestnuts feature not only in several meaty main dishes but in desserts, too.
