Fodor's Expert Review Encanada
The Encanada is adjacent to the tree-lined avenue along the riverfront. A terrace provides river views. The menu is limited, but you can count on good local cooking, with dishes that depend on what's available at the market. You might start with the bolinhos de bacalhau, fried potato cakes with plenty of cod in them, and then try one of the regional dishes, such as rojões (fried pork), accompanied by a vinho verde. Braver souls might go for the arroz de sarrabulho, a dish made of rice and pig's blood, for which this restaurant is particularly renowned.
