Fodor's Expert Review Buxa
This casual restaurant is situated on one of Guimarães's most scenic squares, across from the Museu de Alberto Sampaio, with tables spread indoors and out. Portuguese specialties include bacalhau baked with corn bread, beef mirandesa (stewed with garlic and then grilled—a specialty from the northern city of Miranda do Douro), grilled porco preto (cured ham), tripa, and an array of local cheeses. The weekday lunch menu is an excellent value, at €12 for three courses with wine. There's a snack bar, too.
