Bus Travel

There are few places, if any, in this region which aren't served by at least one bus daily. Express coaches, usually with free Wi-Fi, run by national operator Rede Expressos travel regularly between Lisbon's Sete Rios bus stations and the larger towns such as Santarém, Leiria, and Abrantes, while various regional companies ply those routes and others, many of them from Campo Grande station in Lisbon. If you have the time and patience, bus travel is an inexpensive way to get around. If you know some Portuguese, you can also get a schedule and fee information on regional operators by calling the bus stations or checking out the companies' websites; in the case of Rede Expressos, its English website makes it easy to buy tickets with a credit card or PayPal.
