Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.

The Bulb District Route—more popularly known as the Bloemenroute (Flower Route)—is a series of roads that meander through the bulb-growing region. Marked by small blue-and-white signs that say "Bollenstreek," this route was originally designed by Dutch motoring organization ANWB (which began life as a cycling association). Driving from Amsterdam, take the A4 towards Leiden then the N207 signposted Lisse. By train, head for Haarlem and take bus 50 or bus 51, which allows you to embark and disembark along the route. Tour companies and the local VVVs (tourist information offices) also organize walking and bicycle tours along this route which usually include a visit to Keukenhof. A round-trip tour from Lisse through Hillegom, Noorderwijkerhout, Sassenheim, De Zilk, and Voorhout is approximately 25 km (15 miles). For information about this route consult the VVV in your chosen area.
