Fodor's Expert Review Kam Yin
The most centrally located of the many Surinamese snack bars found throughout the city, with the latest hours, Kam Yin offers this South American country's unique fusion of Caribbean, Chinese, and Indonesian cuisines that arose from its history as a Dutch colony. Basic, clean, convivial, and noisy, Kam Yin has speedy service, long hours (noon–midnight daily), and a doggy-bag option. Perhaps the most popular meal is the roti, which comes with a side of lightly curried potatoes and vegetables or meat. If you come for lunch, try a broodje pom, a sandwich filled with an addictive mélange of chicken and cassava root. There's a second location in Amsterdam's far southeast area (Bijlmerplein 525).
