Fodor's Expert Review Café Loetje
Amsterdam locals closely guard their pick for the best (and least expensive) steak house in the city—but that doesn't prevent hordes of diners from descending on this bustling bistrolike Dutch institution. Students, sophisticates, and families all love this place, where the prime attraction is the beef fillet or a spicier version called a "bali" for a slightly higher price (extra-large versions cost a little bit more). All steaks are served rare—you can't get them any other way. If you're not in the mood, you can also order the hamburger, the pork schnitzel, or, for the non-beefeater, several types of fish. The best dessert on the menu is the sticky toffee cake.
