Scicli

Overshadowed by its larger neighbors, Modica and Ragusa, Scicli is a Baroque beauty in its own right and one of the eight villages designated by UNESCO in the Val di Noto. In recent years, it has entered Italian popular culture as the filming location of the hugely popular Montialbano series, but its decorated stone palaces and unique Madonna su cavallo (Virgin Mary of Militias) will delight visitors who may not yet know the Sicilian detective movies.
