Fodor's Expert Review Cervo Hotel, Costa Smeralda Resort
Porto Cervo, Sardinia, 07020, Italy
Designed in 1962 by the architect Luigi Vietti, this Marriott Sheraton property—next to the busy piazzetta in the car-free heart of Porto Cervo—features low Mediterranean buildings with Spanish tile roofs surrounding a large pool and garden and spacious, white adobe rooms, most with a terrace, that have colorfully painted wood furniture and slip-covered sofas. The five tennis and padel courts are lit at night, and there's a fitness center. Peak-season prices (three-night minimum stay required) are through the roof, but prices plunge in winter.
PROS
- open year-round
- prime central location
- shuttle service to private beach
CONS
- no elevator
- most rooms and bathrooms are relatively small
