Set within the former cloister grounds of the Santa Chiara order, with beautiful gardens, Le Clarisse makes you feel like a personal guest at a friend's villa, thanks to the comfortable size of the guest rooms and personalized service. This charming oasis features simple but classically styled accommodations with terra-cotta-tiled floors, wrought-iron bed frames, and oak furnishings, some of which open onto a bright courtyard surrounded by a Mediterranean garden of grapevines and olive and lemon trees.
With parquet floors, oak closets, wrought iron beds, and views of the green courtyard outside, the rooms have an enchanting feel. The decor is quaint and simple with a gold and cream color scheme throughout. Guest rooms and suites have satellite TV, free Wi-Fi and air conditioning. Many of the larger suites are perfect for families as space is abundant.
Rooms are also soundproofed, but the property as a whole is very quiet.
Bathrooms are spacious and clean, with pale grey tiling and small windows. While showers are small, water pressure is strong. And some rooms have a Jacuzzi bathtub. Basic toiletries are provided.
The lobby is a small entranceway with domed ceilings. There's not much space here, but it leads out into the courtyard where you can enjoy a drink or two.
The hotel is centrally located in Trastevere. You'll be able to walk to many historic sites. And bus and tram lines are everywhere. It's also a quick taxi ride to hotspots like Vatican City or Monti. Fiumicino Airport and Ciampino Airport are both a 30-minute drive away.
Buff Ristorante (1-minute walk) serves organic food with a focus on local vegetables. This casual cafe Giselda (1-minute walk) makes sandwiches with homemade bread and is perfect for on-the-go meals.
Alcazar (1-minute walk) used to be a local cinema, and is now a live music club with great dancing and a friendly crowd. Bar San Calisto (3-minute walk) is an incredibly popular dive bar among locals with some of the lowest prices and strongest drinks in the neighborhood.
WHY WE LIKE IT
The hotel is centrally located in Trastevere, one of Rome's most characteristic neighborhoods. Rooms are simple but elegant, with loving details like domed brick or wood-beamed ceilings and chandeliers throughout. It's a great place for couples and families as it's quiet and away from the crowds. And rooms tend to be larger than the average Roman offering. The green courtyard is an added bonus when you're in need of a break from the city noise. And staff here go above and beyond to make you feel at home.
