Small and simple, this charming hotel is river Arno-adjacent, sitting on a quiet residential street inside the historical center of the city. Minimal design pervades throughout as does a welcoming vibe coming from the Avuri family who runs the hotel. Light on amenities, but long on location, budget-seeking tourists and families will have no problem calling this hotel home.
The hotel is pet friendly – with no extra fees, but try to keep the barking down at night.
Basic, recently renovated, rooms have hard wood floors, flat screen TVs, and views of the quiet street below (you might be able to see the river from some). A number of rooms come with a third bed and are ideal for families who don’t mind cohabitating.
You might be surprised to find out there’s room service here considering there’s only breakfast. But they’ll serve you your morning meal in the room and bring you coffee or water throughout the day.
Look closely at the multi-colored tiled walls inside the showers and you’ll see chic pop-art designs. There aren’t any bathtubs here, but the washrooms have towel heaters, bidets, and are equipped with Agraria bath products.
When entering the hotel, you’ll find a comfy lobby, bar, and breakfast area on the right-hand side with plush blue couches for lazy days of lounging. For kids, there’s a TV with a Playstation.
A hearty breakfast is included with the rooms (package depending) and features strong coffee and tasty pastries.
The small lobby bar has a decent drink selection and the hotel serves up an apperitivo from 6-8pm with snacks.
Florence is relatively small, and walking through the narrow alleys and back streets is a great way to see the city. Within minutes, you’ll find yourself near jaw-dropping churches, stellar restaurants, top-rate bars, and great shopping areas.
If you want an out-of-this world Michelin-starred dining experience, head over to the St. Regis and eat at Winter Garden by Caino (3-minute walk). For something less formal, check out Il Vinaino (5-minute walk) for late-night paninis.
A trip to Florence wouldn’t be complete without a trip to Harry’s Bar (6-minute walk) a riverside spot since 1952 and founders of the Bellini cocktail. If you’re in a clubbing mood, you can check out Space (5-minute walk) for an all-night dance scene.
