Fodor's Expert Review Il Sorpasso
Named after a 1962 cult movie, Il Sorpasso (The Easy Life) serves terrific, honestly priced food in an unassuming space: white walls lined with movie posters, and white floors. No matter—the fine cooking and the sourcing of local ingredients whenever possible help this trattoria surpass many others. Start with the polpettine di Alici (meatballs with anchovies) and then segue to a Ferrarese classic such as tagliata di filetto di manzo (grilled beef with fresh herbs). Or indulge in the tagliatelle al Sorpasso (with porcini mushrooms and pancetta). All of this can be gloriously washed down with local wines by the glass, or bottles from everywhere.
