Fodor's Expert Review Bella Bia

$$ Tralee Italian
Bia is Irish for food, so as the name suggests, the idea here is to combine Irish hospitality with Italian cuisine. The busy restaurant is just across the road from Siamsa Tire (the Irish Folk Theatre), on the ground floor of a characterful slate-fronted town house. Pine-top tables are candlelit, and informally set with red paper napkins. Turnover here is brisk, and advance booking is advisable. The three-course set menu is good value at €22. Local prawns feature with garlic, tomato, and brandy in a fettucine dish, while lamb chops with mushrooms, rosemary, and white wine sauce makes a successful Irish-Italian combo. Vegan and vegetarian specials are also available. In summer, you are encouraged to end your meal by lingering over an Irish coffee in the heated garden.
