The pretty little village of Sneem (from the Irish for "knot") is settled around an English-style green on the Ardsheelaun River estuary, and its streets are filled with houses washed in different colors. The effect has been somewhat diminished by a cluster of new holiday home developments. The town's souvenir shops play Irish music over loudspeakers when the Ring of Kerry tour buses stop here.
