Fodor's Expert Review art'otel budapest
Bem rakpart 16–19, Budapest, Budapest, 1011, Hungary
Encompassing a large, modern building and an 18th-century baroque wing on the Buda riverfront, the art'otel adroitly blends old and new, with the modern design elements—including a vast contemporary art collection—supplied by American artist Donald Sultan. The bright and colorful rooms are a little on the small side (rooms in the older wing are bigger) but many of them come with sensational views: take your pick from a river-facing room with long sweeping vistas of the Danube, or a castle-facing room with romantic views up to the Fisherman's Bastion and the Matthias Church.
PROS
- colorful and distinctive design
- luxury ELEMIS bathroom products
- contemporary artworks by Donald Sultan
CONS
- breakfast isn't included in the rates
- standard rooms have no tea and coffee facilities
- design choices won't appeal to all
