The New Thessaloniki Makedonia International Airport (SKG) is at Mikras, 13 km (8 miles) southeast of the city center on the coast; it's about a 20-minute drive. In addition to international flights from primarily European destinations, there are frequent daily flights to and from Athens; flying time is 45 minutes. Domestic carriers, including Aegean Air and its subsidiary Olympic Air, connect Thessaloniki with a number of other cities in mainland Greece as well as Mykonos, Santorini, Crete, Rhodes, Corfu, Limnos, Chios, and Lesvos.

Bus 78 to and from the airport originates at the KTEL bus terminal, stops at the train station, and makes a stop at Aristotle Square (along Egnatia). Taxis charge according to the meter, with a €3.60 surcharge from the airport; expect to pay around €25 to the Town Center (after midnight the charge doubles).
