Fodor's Expert Review Kyma Hotel
Chandris 1, Chios Town, Chios, 82100, Greece
A neoclassical villa that was once the headquarters of Nikolaos Plastiras, a general in the 1920s conflicts with Turkey who later became prime minister, is these days a welcoming and character-filled waterside inn that's both quirky and comfortable. Most rooms have wonderful sea views, and the hotel is full of intriguing nooks and crannies. Most of the high-ceilinged guest rooms have balconies, some are equipped with hot tubs, and all have a scattering of period furnishings. A large breakfast is served under frescoed ceilings.
PROS
- friendly, professional staff
- good waterside location with great sea views
- character-filled salons and guest rooms
CONS
- not all rooms have a sea view
- some bathrooms are small
- some renovation is in order
