Fodor's Expert Review Rhodes's Hammam

Rhodes Town Quick Bite

Editor's Note: This property is currently undergoing renovations.

These traditional Turkish-style public baths, in a stark stone building built in 1515, was for many centuries a gathering place for Rhodes' Muslims and non-Muslims alike. Bathers could bathe, "steam," and socialize in domed rooms heated by wood-stoked fires. The hamman is now closed, though there's talk of restoring the baths and reviving this Ottoman-era ritual.
