Look inland to O Dervenis for some of the best small mezedes in town. The friendly young couple that now runs their family's taverna is conscious of providing old-style quality and hospitality, using real feta and virgin olive oil and always offering a complimentary dessert (sometimes it's heavenly panna cotta) or fruit. It will be tough choosing an appetizer from among the homemade tzatziki, the spinach pie made with feta and kefalograviera (a soft cheese), the marinated octopus, and the gavros (which resembles a large anchovy). Contemplate your selection in the covered garden courtyard. At the end of the meal, try either the hovoli, the traditional Greek coffee prepared on the heated sand, or the homemade cinnamon liqueur offered by the owners.
