Athens

Athens's energetic year-round performing arts scene kicks into a higher gear from June through September, when numerous stunning outdoor theaters host everything from classical Greek drama (in both Greek and English), opera, symphony, and ballet, to rock, pop, and hip-hop concerts. In general, dress for summer performances is fairly casual, though the city's glitterati get decked out for events such as a world premiere opera at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus. From October through May, when the arts move indoors, the Megaron Mousikis/Athens Concert Hall is the biggest venue, but there are literally hundreds of theaters and performance venues around the city. Performances at outdoor summer venues, stadiums, and the Megaron tend to be priced between €15 to €120 for tickets, depending on the location of seats and popularity of performers.
