Fodor's Expert Review Schloss- und Festungsruine Hardenburg

Bad Durkheim Ruins
Hardenburg Castle Ruins, The Pfalz and Rhine Terrace, Germany, Europe.

The massive ruins of 13th-century Hardenburg Castle lie 3 km (2 miles) west of Kloster Limburg (via B-37). In its heyday, it was inhabited by more than 200 people, but it burned down in 1794. In the visitor center there's an exhibit about the fascinating history of the castle, and various events are held here throughout the year, including a medieval fair in September.
