Visitors have praised the friendly welcome and service they received at this well-maintained and very affordable lodging close to the Oktoberfest grounds. It won't win any prizes for beauty (in or out), but it's a solid choice for bargain-hunters or those in town for the beer festival, if you can book early enough to avoid the inflated prices Oktoberfest brings with it.

Rooms are comfortable, if furnished in a manner only slightly better than functional. The Wi-Fi is surprisingly good.

YOU SHOULD KNOW The hotel is quite basic, with more of a hostel feel than a hotel, and some have complained that the rooms can be too hot in summer and cold in winter.

Bathrooms are basic and a little tired, but clean.

Staff are more helpful than many in hotels at this price point. Reception is open 24-hours-a-day.

Breakfast is decent, and costs €8.

A nice touch at the hotel is that coffee and tea are available all day in the breakfast room.

Getting Around

The hotel is not in the city center - it's about 30 minutes' walk to the main attractions - but is close to public transport and the neighborhood itself is not bad.

Restaurants

Pleasant French restaurant, Restaurant Marais Soir (1-minute walk), couldn't be closer, and offers good cooking with a neighborhood feel. Or cool modern local joint, La Kaz (7-minute walk), has various international options.

Bars

The legendary, and gigantic, Augustiner Keller (15-minute walk) brewhouse and beer garden is a short walk from the hotel. Or bnb banh mi and beer (5-minute walk) delivers what you'd expect from the name in a cool setting nearby.

WHY WE LIKE IT

Basic but reasonably comfortable, clean and fairly handily located for getting in and out of town--and importantly, not a bad option for Oktoberfest if you can snag a room for non-outrageous rates.
