You can see the jaunty orange facade of this hotel across the square from the S-bahn station, which is handy. The family atmosphere is welcoming, the rooms are pleasantly modern, and good traditional Bavarian meals are served in the restaurant. A solid choice for those in Dachau either for its grim history (the concentration camp memorial site is on the edge of town) or the modern day escape from the city it offers.

Rooms are basic but comfortable, and children under five stay for free. The family room, which has a sitting area too, has a little more personality.

The white and blue reception desk is normally brightened up with some flowers, and at least a few staff who can speak English.

The hotel's Bavarian modern-canteen feel, with dark wood chairs and long tables, delivers authentic recipes. Breakfast is tasty and bountiful.

Guests can also drink in the pleasant restaurant.

Order the "Weisswurst" special with a drop of Weissbier and you'll get a good laugh at how the "drop" is served.
