Fodor's Expert Review nHow Berlin

Stralauer Allee 3, Berlin, Berlin, 10245, Germany, Berlin, Germany See on Map

This spot bills itself as the music hotel—it hosts regular open mike nights, has two sound studios overlooking the Spree River, and will send a guitar or keyboard to your room any time creativity strikes. The space-agey, mod decor is courtesy of celebrated designer Karim Rashid. Other notable features are the hotel's small gallery, which shows work by local and international artists, and numerous elevators, each of which entertains you with a different genre of music.

room

Design-savvy travelers will dig the striking pink or baby blue décor and sinuous furnishings. Larger rooms offer great views of Spree. Every room has a Nespresso coffee machine and minibar stocked with cool products like nhow brand nail polish.

YOU SHOULD KNOW There’s complimentary late check-out on Sundays and breakfast is served until noon on Sundays and holidays.

bathroom

The pink or blue theme continues into the bathrooms, which have heated floors, rainshowers and La Bottega products. Suites have separate bathtubs and cozy Karim Rashid-designed bathrobes. The penthouse has a whirlpool bath.

lobby

A glossy bright-pink reception desk dominates the lobby lounge, with psychedelic lighting, swirling carpets and funky, amorphous seating.

dining

The contemporary international menu at Fabrics restaurant is secondary to the incredible river views through floor-to-ceiling windows; come summer, there’s no better place to soak up the sun than on the restaurant’s riverside terrace.

drinking

Adjacent to Fabrics, the circular Envy Bar mixes up excellent signature cocktails like the Pomegranate Shrub. Things get particularly lively on Thursday to Saturday evenings when DJs perform.

LOCATION

Getting Around

Set right on the Spree River, the hotel is a 10-minute walk from the Warschauer Straße U- and S-Bahn station and M10 tram.

Restaurants

Schneeweiss (16-minute walk) has a sleek, all-white interior that perfectly complements the kitchen’s contemporary spin on classic German and Austrian cuisine. Discover Georgian cooking at Schwiliko (11-minute walk), a cozy restaurant just across the river Spree.

Bars

Just across the Spree, the Watergate (7-minute walk) hosts top international DJ in a split-level space with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the river; there’s also an amazing riverfront terrace in the summer months. Set beneath the Warschauer Straße station, the Matrix Club (8-minute walk) houses multiple bars and dance floors.

WHY WE LIKE IT

Along with the seriously cool interior design and great river views, this hotel offers plenty of cool perks, like the use of a guitar or keyboard in your room and the option to borrow a SEAT Ateca SUV free of charge. Other bonuses: the spacious 24-hour gym—chock full of the latest fitness and cardio machines—and spa with a steam bath and two saunas. And the restaurant's riverfront terrace is one of the best spots in the city for an al fresco cocktail.
