Salvador Dalí once called Perpignan's train station "the center of the world." That may not be true, but the city certainly is the capital hub of Roussillon. Perpignan tends to echo its surrounding agricultural landscape, rough around the edges and full of yet-unrealized potential that attracts a kind of bold spirit. Scratch the surface of Perpignan and you’ll find gypsy music, deep Catalan pride, loud Spanish influences, and the occasional classic crêpe.
